Beans, beans the magical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot.
Ah the age old addage that beans make you fart. Guess what? It’s true. They do make you release gas but that’s because they’re packed with fiber which is awesome for you!
Beans are so much better for you than you would ever think. They are full of protein and fiber and are about the same amount of calories as meat, but make you feel full faster than meat which makes you, in turn, eat less.
Beans are digested slowly and are low in sugar which means that they do not cause insulin to be released into the blood stream. They also do not cause sugar spikes. Beans are an excellent addition to a low-carb or diabetic diet.
Also, because beans come from plants, they have something called phytochemicals which are antioxidants that help fight disease.
Beans are a great substitute for meat if you’re trying out a Meatless Monday or are trying to lose some weight.
