There is a thin line between genius and insanity and I’m walking the line. I purchased ten pounds of all beef hot dogs from Zaycon Fresh and whenever I’m at a loss for ideas, I thaw some hot dogs and call it a day.
This particular evening, I was in the mood for hot dogs but since I don’t eat them with buns I was searching the fridge for other things to pair it with. I noticed a tomato, avocado and some salsa and thought – why not! So, I tried it and although it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I enjoyed it.
My favorite way of cooking hot dogs is to let them thaw in the fridge (if you don’t have time for that, just boil them for a few minutes) and then slice them down the center length-wise, just enough so that they fold open, but not too much so that you have two pieces that are no longer connected. I then sautee them in butter on each side until there are a few dark spots but are not burnt.
How do you like to eat your hot dogs? I always use this same cooking method, but usually just do pickles and mustard.
