Last Friday was National Doughnut Day and I was so upset that I could not have a regular doughnut while everyone else was enjoying them. I decided to make some chocolate protein doughnuts when I got home to satisfy my craving. The best part of a chocolate doughnut, in my opinion, is the frosting. It either makes or breaks the doughnut.
This time I think I hit the nail on the head. This frosting was super easy to but together, is extremely low carb and adds so much flavor to my chocolate-y doughnuts.
This particular frosting is strawberry banana, but you could use whatever flavors you want! Don’t have strawberry protein powder? Use vanilla and add a flavoring or just use plain vanilla! That would be just as delicious!
There’s no reason not to get creative here. The flavor combinations are endless.
- For three doughnuts
- 2.5 tsp Quest strawberry protein powder
- 1 tsp corn starch
- 2.5 tsp water
- 1/8 tsp banana extract
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl that is large enough to fit your doughnut.
- Mix until combined.
- Dunk your doughnuts in your frosting and chill in the fridge!
