Creepy Crawly Cookies n Cream Cake
  • For the Cake:
  • 125g butter, soft
  • 125g all purpose flour
  • 125g white sugar
  • 1 tsp pure¬†vanilla extract
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1½ tbsp milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ C Oreo crumbles
  • For the Buttercream:
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, soft
  • 225 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • food coloring of choice (I used red, green and blue to get a gray color)
  • For the Ganache:
  • ¼ C Chocolate Chips of your choosing
  • 1-2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • For the Filling:
  • 10-12 Gummy Worms of Choice
  • ½ C Oreo crumbles
  1. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees and prepare two 6" round pans by greasing and lining with parchment paper.
  2. In your stand mixer, sift in your sugar, flour, baking soda and salt. Add in your butter and eggs.
  3. Beat on low until just incorporated.
  4. Add in your milk and beat on medium for another 20-30 seconds, until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Pour your mixture evenly into your two prepared pans. Bake for 22-26 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Once your cakes are done, let cool in pan for 5 minutes and then turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling completely.
  7. Get started on your frosting by creaming your butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually add in your sugar and then your milk, vanilla and food coloring.
  8. Once your cakes are cooled, place ⅓ of your frosting on top of one of the layers. Spread evenly. Add ⅓ of your remaining oreo crumbles as well as some of your gummy worms.
  9. Place your second layer, upside down on the other cake layer. Frost the top and side with remaining frosting.
  10. Melt your chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler. Once melted, stir in 1-2 tbsp vegetable oil until you reach a pourable consistency. Set aside to cool.
  11. Once cooled, pour your chocolate over the cake and allow to strategically drip down the sides.
  12. Pile the remaining crumbles in the center of your cake and strategically place gummy worms in the crumbles. If you have any leftover frosting, add it to a piping bag and make cute little rosettes around the border of the cake.
